Privacy Policy
Effective September 27, 2026
The short version
- We collect what the app needs to work: your account, your household's chores, points and rewards, and what you choose to tell us about your home.
- Your partner in the app can see your household's shared information. Nobody else can.
- We don't sell your information, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
- You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time.
This policy explains how ChorePlay ("ChorePlay", "we", "us") handles information when you use the ChorePlay app. ChorePlay is operated by Anthony Khera. If you have a question that isn't answered here, email us at anthonykhera@yahoo.com.
Information we collect
Your account
- Email address and password, if you sign up with email. Your password is stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider; we never see it.
- Sign in with Apple, if you use it. Apple shares an identifier for your account and, if you allow it, your name and email address. If you choose "Hide My Email," we receive a private relay address instead of your real one.
- Your first name, which is shown to your partner in the app.
Your household
- Chores, points and rewards: the chores you add, who completed them and when, points earned and spent, rewards you create, prices you agree on, bonuses you give, and the reasons you write for disputes and bonuses.
- About your home, if you answer the setup questions: the type of home, number of bedrooms, bathrooms and floors, features such as a yard or dishwasher, the number of adults, the ages of any children, the number and kinds of pets, and household jobs someone else already handles. We use this only to suggest a starting list of chores. We do not ask for children's names.
- Invite codes used to connect you and your partner.
Notifications
- A push notification token for your device, so we can send you reminders and updates, and whether your device is iPhone or Android.
- Your notification preferences: whether reminders are on, what time, which days.
- Your device's time zone, so reminders arrive at the time you chose.
Subscriptions
- Whether your household has an active subscription, which plan, and when it renews or ends. Payments are handled entirely by Apple (or Google on Android). We never receive your payment card details.
What we don't collect
ChorePlay does not use advertising or analytics trackers, does not access your location, contacts, photos or microphone, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
How we use it
- To run the app: your account, your household, points, rewards and disputes.
- To suggest chores and starting rewards when you set up.
- To send the emails you ask for, such as sign-up and password reset codes.
- To send push notifications you've turned on: reminders, rewards claimed, disputes, and bounties on chores left undone.
- To know whether your household's subscription is active.
- To keep the app secure and fix problems.
Who can see it
Your partner
ChorePlay is built for two people sharing a household. Your partner can see your first name, your points, the chores you've completed, rewards, disputes, bonuses and the household's setup answers. If one of you leaves or is removed from the household, what was already recorded in the household's history stays there as a record for the person who remains.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of companies to run ChorePlay. They process information only on our behalf and only to provide their service:
| Provider | What for | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, accounts and servers | All app data described above |
| RevenueCat | Managing subscriptions | An account identifier and your purchase records from Apple or Google |
| Expo | Delivering push notifications | Your push token and the text of each notification |
| Resend | Sending account emails | Your email address and the email's contents |
| Apple and Google | Sign in with Apple, in-app purchases, and notification delivery | What's needed for those services, under their own privacy policies |
No selling, no advertising
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect the safety of our users, or as part of a sale or transfer of the ChorePlay service, in which case this policy continues to apply.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as you have an account. If you delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep something to meet a legal obligation. Copies may remain in routine backups for a short period before they are overwritten.
Your choices
- Notifications: turn them off in the app under Profile → Notifications, or in your phone's settings.
- Setup answers: they're only used to suggest chores, and you can leave any of them at their defaults. Email us if you'd like them removed.
- Deleting your account: in the app, go to Profile → Delete account. Your account, points and everything you logged are erased. If you share a house, your partner keeps the house and their own history. You can also ask us by email.
- Access and correction: email anthonykhera@yahoo.com from the address on your account and we'll send you a copy of your data or correct it. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law; we honor those requests too.
- Subscriptions: manage or cancel them in your Apple ID (or Google Play) settings. Deleting your ChorePlay account does not cancel a subscription.
Security
Information is encrypted in transit, and access to each household's data is restricted at the database so that only its members can read it. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you, as required by law.
Children
ChorePlay is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents may enter their children's ages during setup to get suitable chore suggestions; we do not collect children's names or other details. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Where your information is stored
Our providers may store and process information in the United States and other countries. Wherever it is processed, it is protected as described in this policy.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, let you know in the app before they take effect.
